This restaurant is a sister Restaurant to Renzo's Cafe of Boca. The Boca location on Federal Highway just south of the Delray border always seems to be packed. I arrived at this location at 7:30 p.m. on a Friday night, and I was the only customer in the house. The waitress said that they just finished 6 tables just before I arrived. So that would be about a half house on a Friday night at peak dinner time. I had found an offer on restaurant.com so I thought I would give the place a shot. Prior reviews have been from 1 star - 5 stars which generally means people rave about everything or their bitched off about something. I think one of the biggest problems that they face is the old story of location. Prices on the menu equal that of the other location, but the neighborhood and Local clientele can't support such relatively high prices relative to other Italian eateries and pizzerias in the area. This is not a dining restaurant, but more of a pizzeria that has a dinner menu. Before I get to the food, I want to talk about authenticity. My father was Italian and we are from New Jersey. I have learned not to expect New York and New Jersey style quality here in South Florida, but I don't expect to hear Spanish music and the owner and the cook speaking Spanish. Where is the Italian in that? My server was very good, but acted more like a mother at the table while serving each customer from the main dish. We are all adults and don't need to be hand fed. During my time in the restaurant, there were no pickup orders, the cook ran out a delivery, and one other couple came in. When I was about to leave, a large party of the cook's family came in and it became very noisy. Good thing I was leaving. I ordered a large calzone with fried eggplant and sausage added to the inside. Total price $14. The calzone literally could have been cut into four adults size portions. At first bite, I thought I tasted something that might not have been as fresh as I wanted, but it was only on the first bite. There was ample ricotta and mozzarella as well as sausage and egg plant. Quite frankly, the best part of the meal was the chunky marinara sauce. That item, I would like to have the recipe for. There were no seasonings inside the calzone such as salt, pepper, or oregano. I had to add grated cheese and garlic powder to take away from the bland flavor After the restaurant.com discount and tip added, the total was $11. It was fine for what I had, but I am not apt to return.

Incomplete. We stopped there around 4PM and they didn't have any pizza nor was there any offer to make us pizza. Weird! Being generous with 2 stars. Place looked like it could have been good...if only they had food.

The experience I had here was from a one time only visit, so I am writing based solely on that. I noticed Renzo's opened up in my old favorite pizza spot (still crying about that place closing its doors). I decided to order their $12 18" cheese pizza special on a Tuesday afternoon. I picked it up and noticed that they updated the pizza location a bit. Instead of feeling casual as the two previous places once did, it was updated with some fresh paint and white linens placed on the tables. I grabbed my pizza and took it home to enjoy with the other half. As excited as I was to have delicious pizza, I was disappointed. There was WAY too much cheese. And I love cheese. So much so that the pizza was very chewy. The crust was crispy, but the dough underneath the cheese was not. On top of that, the pie lacked sauce and some of the cheese on the slices tasted strange. Very offputting. As for right now this place stands at 2 stars for me. I may try them out again to see if it gets any better, but not sure I want to have another pizza tasting like that again.

Decent for Florida standards? I don't know. Would I ever eat this if it was available in NY? No way. It's way too expensive for mediocre pizza. Why can't we have NY style pizzerias where you can walk in a grab a slice and maybe some chicken rolls and rice balls for less than $5? This place tries really hard to be a fancy restaurant and that's not what pizza is about. I order here sometimes cause it's close but the prices deter me from visiting frequently.

Ok, a quick history of my experience with "Renzo's". I went to one of them years and years ago down in Boca. That was terrible. So long ago (before yelp and many online reviews) that I dont remember specifics. I do remember sweating like a stuffed pig in there. And I remember that the food was "OK" but after you factor in the rave reviews...it become not so "OK". So, I saw that they were opening up in Boynton and I live there so I figured I would try their pizza. Oh, my. I felt like it was my first time experiencing terrible Florida pizza again when coming home from visiting NY. Wowzers. I seriously needed to reach into my mouth and pull the "cheese" out to make sure that I actually did in fact have cheese in my mouth because it had no taste. I have had homemade mozzarella. I've had bad mozzarella. You name it, I have had it so I know how sometimes your mozzarella can be a little "light" on flavor. Nope. This wasnt light. This stuff tricked my taste buds into thinking nothing was in my mouth. There was nearly no sauce on it either. Luckily the bread was not dry. Pass this one up. And if this guy does Boynton like he did Boca, there will be another Renzo's at the next intersection. I'm not joking. Google "Renzo's Boca". He has two of them 9 blocks away.

Just got done devouring a yummy Margherita pizza! Definitely up with New York pizza. My wife an I have been researching for good pizza in Florida, and this is definitely the best yet. Even though we just had the pizza to go, the staff seemed really nice. We highly recommend Renzo's in Boynton Beach!

BAD Business!! We have ordered from Renzo's quite frequently.. Today they screwed up our order for take out, we only realized this once we got home. We called immediately to tell them & to have the order corrected.. They would only do so if we paid for another order!! I think NOT!! In my book that is bad business & I will never be back to this establishment!! Just plain wrong! Zero ethics!! #neveragain
